Dwarfs- Based and Ready For Action!

Look who's ready to play some Fantasy games! It's not pretty, but everyone is based. I'm planning to head over to my local Games Workshop store this weekend to learn how to play. Hopefully somewhere I can find a spare rulebook, since my hubby took our one copy to a tournament this weekend.

I used a pile of old, gross bases and a teeny bit of glue to stick them on. It should be easy to pop them off when I want to base them for real. I figure if I'm playing with them, I'm more likely to want to paint them. I haven't been totally dragging my feet, but I'm hoping this will encourage me to pick up the pace a bit.

Now, to find that rulebook!

Dwarfs Update: Now in Smaller Piles

I've been making some decent progress with my Dwarf army in the past few weeks. My Slayers are mostly finished, I have a BSB, and now I have a nice Lord to lead the army (for now):

He's even based!
I realized it was probably time to split up the large pile of primed Dwarfs into their individual units, so I could work on them one group at a time, like I did for the Slayers.

This turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would. I have several older models I can't identify and realized I have duplicates of ones I don't need more than one of. After all was said and done I ended up with 6 less daunting, but still largely unpainted piles.

Their skin is all done, so at least that's over!

Dwarf Slayers Are (Mostly) Finished!

I have ten completely finished Slayers, but I powered through the remaining twenty last night and painted up their feet/boots and pants so I could base them. So, they're not completely finished, but the important part to keep in mind is that they are based.

30 Slayers (including Gotrek)
I'm getting pretty close to being able to start playing! I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to clip all their tabs off. Well, I was thinking ahead to how I wanted them based, but not far enough ahead to realize I couldn't play with them until they were painted. Oh well. Now I know better for next time.

Looking at the book, I have about 450 points worth of Dwarfs painted between the Slayers and the BSB model I finished a few weeks ago. I realized, however, that I currently lack a General. That's what I get for starting to paint before reading the rulebook carefully.

I have several models I could use, but just haven't painted one up yet. I'll go through them later today and choose one. If I paint him up next, then I should have enough to start playing some small games and learn the rules. That assumes that I don't run out of bases... which I will soon. I have to order a pile more and spend another few days making more.
