I picked up this Dark Elf Dreadlord on Black Dragon model to paint for a contest. My new hubby thinks I should start a Dark Elf army with it, but I think I am too attached to the idea of doing Dwarves. It's such a fantastic model, though, that I couldn't resist using it.

That's a Daemon Prince arm in his right claw. |
I didn't include the rider or sadle because I had this idea about the dragon breaking free, so I added in two Dark Elf corsairs who are trying to wrangle him. I added a bloody Daemon Prince arm, too.
I added chains on either side of his mouth and chainmail ring links to his wings. That was pretty easy to do and I think it gave off the over all idea I was going for quite well. It's hard to see in the photos, but there's also some broken chain on the ground by the Dark Elves.

These are the best eyes I've ever done. |

I really liked the pink/teal combination for their Sea Dragon cloaks. This was also the first time I've tried to paint any fleshy tones (thanks, Chaos Daemons). It was a heck of a lot harder than I expected.

I really like his pose. |
Overall I think this is the best thing I've ever painted, but I definitely have a long way to go still. I probably would do a few things differently, but I like the scheme I used on the Corsairs a lot. If I did do a Dark Elf army, I think a table full of guys in those colors would look really neat.
My best friend just gave me a whole mess of Dwarves as a wedding present (what a great guy!) so they're definitely going to happen. They're probably going to happen before the Space Wolves now, because I literally have an entire army and it's already built. I just have to strip, paint, and base them and then I can start learning how to play Fantasy (I'm going to the dark side).
